Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav narrowly escaped injury early Saturday when a speeding truck collided with two vehicles in his convoy in Bihar’s Vaishali district. The incident occurred around 12:30 am near Goraul on the Patna-Muzaffarpur national highway while the convoy had stopped for a tea break.

According to police reports, Yadav was fortunately away from the vehicles at the time, sipping tea just a few meters from where the collision took place. While the opposition leader remained unharmed, three security personnel traveling in the convoy sustained injuries in the crash.

RJD spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan confirmed the close call, stating that Yadav “narrowly escaped” as he was taking a brief refreshment break when the incident occurred. The politician was returning to Patna after attending a political function in Madhepura when the convoy made the stop.

Local authorities acted swiftly following the collision, arresting the truck driver and seizing the vehicle. “We are interrogating the driver,” stated Goraul police inspector Raushan Kumar, who is overseeing the investigation. Officials have not yet commented on whether the incident appears to be accidental or if other factors might have been involved.

Yadav’s own vehicle was not directly impacted in the collision, which primarily affected two support vehicles in the security detail.
