The Indian men’s football team faced a setback in their preparations for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup qualifier, losing 0-2 to Thailand in a FIFA international friendly match on Wednesday. The game took place at the Thammasat Stadium in Pathum Thani, Thailand.

India struggled defensively from the start, allowing Thailand to take an early lead through a goal from Ben Davies. Despite the initial setback, the Indian team, known as the Blue Tigers, managed to create several scoring opportunities throughout the match. Key players like Sunil Chhetri, Liston Colaco, Lallianzuala Chhangte, and Ashique Kuruniyan were involved in attacking moves, but the team couldn’t convert their chances into goals.

A notable moment occurred when captain Sunil Chhetri appeared to be fouled in the penalty box, but the referee did not award a penalty kick. Thailand secured their victory in the 59th minute when Poramet Arjvilai scored a remarkable long-range goal, leaving the Indian goalkeeper with no chance.

The match also saw Nikhil Prabhu make his debut for the Indian national team. This loss highlights areas for improvement as India prepares for their crucial AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Hong Kong scheduled for June 10th.
